About Mohau Counselling Centre

Mohau Counselling Centre, as part of the outreach arm of Christ Church Midrand, has been part of the Midrand community for more than 25 years and opened its doors on the 27th of October 2020.

“Mohau” means mercy. As a registered NPO and NPC (along with Section 18A), our vision is to show mercy and heal our communities and country. We do it by attending to the roots of trauma and abuse in all its forms through professional counselling. For individuals, for families and for communities.  This vision includes counselling the perpetrators of abuse. We believe only when all have a chance to heal will we stop the cycle of abuse and enable South Africa to fulfil its fruitful promise. Our “pay what you can afford” sessions are often fully subsidised thanks to our far-sighted donors.

The Centre was established as a response to the scourge of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and to use our expert training and values-based principles to restore hope within families and communities. All are welcome, no matter their race, religion or financial position.

OUR TEAM

Our team of expert counsellors utilise the latest trauma approaches and exercises, giving survivors and perpetrators one-on-one counselling as well as facilitated group sessions and referrals. We are registered with SAQA-recognised councils, ensuring we maintain the very best counselling and care practices.

Our counsellors and volunteers desire to see the lives of individuals, including children, families, and couples, transformed, healed, and supported by coming alongside them in their struggles.

Mohau means mercy and our vision is to show mercy and heal our communities and country.
